Cairns Airport is both an international and domestic airport, located 7 kilometres north of the Cairns city centre in Aeroglen. It holds the distinction of being the 7th busiest airport in Australia and is situated between Mount Whitfield (to the west) and Trinity Bay (to the east).

In addition to its commercial flights, the airport also services the general aviation sector, including helicopter flights and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
