The Central Highlands Region of Queensland is full of beautiful little country towns built on hard work and determination. Emerald is one such town, originally established as a base while building the central line railway which extended from the town to Rockhampton – some 270km to the east. These days the town plays an important role in servicing the many industries in the region including mining and agriculture. Emerald is at the junction of two highways – the Gregory Highway which runs from Charters Towers in the north to Springsure in the south, and the Capricorn Highway which runs from Barcaldine in the west to Rockhampton in the east. If you’re in Emerald and on the hunt for car hire then Skedaddle have got you covered. Skedaddle offers the best price guarantee on your Emerald car hire with bookings available with all major rental car companies that operate in the region.

Things to see and do

Emerald’s most popular place to relax and enjoy a great day out is Queensland’s secondest largest lake – Lake Maraboon. The Lake has a massive 15,000 hectare surface area and is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and boating, an excellent way to cool down on a hot Emerald summer day. Fishing is also a fun activity with several species stocked in the lake and ready to target including barramundi, bass, silver perch, eel-tailed catfish, and the elusive red claw crayfish. Lake Maraboon is located 18km southwest of Emerald which is about a 15 minute drive. Enjoy your Emerald car hire by taking a drive around the region to see the sights.
