Fremantle is less than 30 minutes from the Western Australian capital of Perth at the mouth of the Swan River looking out to the Indian Ocean. Fremantle has a proud heritage dating back to early settlers in 1829, but today it is a blossoming multicultural hub with a thriving arts scene. The city is also well represented in sport with cricket, soccer and AFL. Visitors to Fremantle or “Freo” as it is affectionately known love the laid back atmosphere combined with the contrast of modern culture and colonial era architecture. The city has a booming cafe culture with a plethora of alfresco dining experiences. For arts, food, history, music or theatre fanatics there are several excellent festivals that take place over the course of the year including Fremantle Chilli Festival, West Coast Blues and Roots, Fremantle Heritage Festival, Winter Music Festival and Fremantle Street Arts Festival.

Of course the coastal city also boasts some excellent water based activities. Take a dip in Cottesloe or Bathers Beach, try your luck fishing at Blackwall Reach on the Swan River or even take a ferry or charter out to Rottnest Island which sits 22km off the coast of Fremantle for a day of exploring. Don’t forget there are several ways to travel between Fremantle and Perth including ferry, train or simply by your hire car. There are three major highways that connect Perth and Fremantle, these being the Leach, Stirling and Canning Highways  so you can enjoy a different drive each time!
