The third biggest city in Australia and capital of Queensland, Brisbane has so much to offer the visitor, whether they’re in the Sunshine State for business or pleasure. Mockingly referred to as ‘Brisvegas’ for years, Brisbane has come into its own in recent years and this gem of South East Queensland has a lot in store for the aspiring traveller. Equipped with a hire car and a positive attitude, there’s so much to be gotten out of your Brisbane experience.
Bathing and Dining in South Bank
Just near the city is South Bank, where you can have a dip in the artificial beach or eat at one of the many decadent eateries along Little Stanley Street. Parking is often free or discounted if you can produce a receipt from one of the many businesses in this area. Also within the South Bank area is the museum, art galleries and science centre for the kids. Parking is a piece of cake, so you can take your car rental there.
If you want to get a bit further out, you can go to either the Gold or Sunshine Coasts, each taking less than 2 hours to reach by car. The Gold Coast boasts amusements parks, shopping and nightclubs, while the Sunshine Coast will have you relaxing with a slower pace and more secluded beaches.
No Longer a ‘Big Country Town’
Back in Brisbane, you can catch all the excitement of the treasury Casino (you can get free parking for your car hire by being a member), there’s annual Caxton Street Seafood Festival and who would want to miss out on the Valley Fiesta, where some of Brisbane’s best musical talent is on display.
So, whether you’re in Brisbane for fun or business, a car hire will get you from one place to another with minimal effort.
